Start talking state tournament...

You saw my bracket-by-bracket predictions and analysis in Saturday's Varsity section. Now it's time for you to tell me who you think is going to win what sections and why:

To review, I picked:

Piscataway in North 2 Group IV
Shabazz in North 2 Group III
Trenton in Central Jersey Group IV
Rumson Fair-Haven in Central Jersey Group II
Highland Park in Central Jersey Group I
Morris Catholic in Non-Public North A
Marist in Non-Public North B

My rankings of the five local teams with the best chance of winning a sectional title (in order):
1. Piscataway (North 2, Group IV)
2. Middlesex (Central Jersey Group I)
3. North Hunterdon (North 2, Group IV)
4. Watchung Hills (North 2, Group IV)
5. New Providence (Central Jersey Group I)

There isn't much else to add for me. Your predictions are my predictions as well and are the general consensus for "favorites".

Disappointed Watchung Hills, I expect, will do quite well in the states, but I don't think they have it in them to win the section.

North Hunterdon has a chance like you've said, but I was shocked they lost to Voorhees so I don't know what to think about them.

I feel New Providence is overrated and will be lucky if they win the section.

Somerville may have a chance at a rematch of last year's final with Rumson in the semi's. If they make it that far, the Pioneers will have nothing to lose so hopefully they'll go in and give it their best shot. I saw Rumson play once this year and I wasn't as impressed with them as I was last year. Kate Miller is still an outstanding player, but everyone else is inconsistent. Raritan beat them earlier in the season and I can see that happening again in the final unless Miller single handedly carries the team on her shoulders.

NP/Ville second round game could be interesting - Somerville hasn't had a problem beating them yet this year, but you never know.

Ryan - you probably weren't at the Somerville/Weequahic game, but you sure missed something. It was without a doubt the best win under Coach Swan for the Somerville girls. The end of the game was nothing short of chaos as Somerville won on a rebounded shot by Taylor Boosman that led to the victory and to the Weequahic crowd going nuts, leading to police crowing the gym to protect the Somerville coaches and players. The entire situation was just frightening, especially for any children who might have been there. I was scared myself and I will not be attending the boys game between the two teams - in Newark. My goodness.

What's up with the no update of last night's games on the CN website? It still has the stories from Tuesday night's games.

I was hoping for an All-Skyland North II Group IV final (North vs. WH) but it looks like your least likely of the bunch will be the ones to carry on (WH vs. Columbia Tuesday night). And by the way, it's not just the Somerset County Tournament reffing that's bad, the two ref's at the Piscataway/WH game last night were horrible.
